M C Vaughan - At first I questioned the M and C initials of her name. So I went to our local town hall and looked in some old ledgers from the 1870's and found the same type of script. The lettering was almost identical in names that I knew from our local history.

Her name - Mary Catherine (Vernon) Vaughan - Born: 15 OCT 1826 in Tennessee Married: 24 APR 1850 in Williamson, Tennessee to William Vaughan and Died: 30 JUL 1887.

She was kind enough to stitch her name and the date into the quilt along with her age, who it was made for and who they were.
